How to Achieve a Mindset for CRNA Success | Do This Now

If you are aspiring to be a CRNA, you surely must have lots of questions on your mind. These questions range from how to thrive in school to what a typical CRNA journey is like to how you can set yourself up for success as a CRNA to what type of mindset you need that would help you be successful as a CRNA. If the last two questions are what has been bugging you for some time, then, not to worry. You are reading the right post!

The purpose of this post is to motivate you and help you to learn to change your perspective in life. It would also help you to learn how to focus on a mindset that’s going to allow you to be successful. Let’s get right to it!

You might be struggling right now in school, you might simply just be getting curious about having a CRNA career, you might be in ICU, laying a foundation for yourself or you might just be thinking about a nursing career. Whichever of these phases you are in life, the key thing is to focus on making your perspective positive, and never giving up. You have to keep in mind that everyone has a struggle and no one has it easy.

You may come across someone who is in school, acting like everything is all bread and butter and like a walk in the park. Truth be told? That is hardly ever the case. In most cases, it’s simply their perspective and the way they see things in life that is allowing them to be successful. Let me use my CRNA journey as a case study.

My CRNA Journey

You know that feeling when you are stressed, struggling and you keep saying you can’t go on, you want to give up. I sure can relate to that. Been there, done that! I remember how difficult it was when I started my CRNA journey. I had a newborn baby so, I was struggling. I never slept well, I never ate well, I wasn’t able to read in the first couple of weeks and months but I never gave up. Not when I was tired. Not when I said to my husband that I couldn’t go on anymore as it was too difficult. Thankfully, my husband was very supportive. He was there to support me mentally and physically. I remember that we didn’t even have good jobs. I was a fulltime student and he was helping me with our daughter. Our family was also very supportive. We were struggling but we had student loans that helped us survive. We also had a budget and yes, a budget makes a huge difference.

Achieving That Mindset

Now, you might be in my shoes or you might have it completely different. You may have a big family and see becoming a CRNA in your future but you may think to yourself that you can’t do it. Well, guess what? You can! If you put your mind in a place that is positive and decide to figure out a way to do it, you can do it. All you need to do is to at least try and put in your best. You may not be that person that gets all A’s but as long as you are trying to get them and also putting in your best, you’re doing all that matters. This is because when you get a job, it’s not just about the grades. Yes, good grades may help you but in the end, it is all about your clinical experience and your personality.

In nursing, generally, we constantly have to try our best and work hard to be successful, know critical care, nursing, and all that it takes to be a great nurse. Being a nurse is something you have to be very proud of. So, just remind yourself that even with kids or with whatever situation you find yourself in, if you put your mind to it, you can do it. The bottom line? Change your perspective, put your mind in a positive place and be well on your way to being a successful CRNA.

Having a positive mindset is one sure way to set yourself up for success as a CRNA. It would keep you going on the days when everything seems tough. I hope you are able to pick up some lessons from my personal story as well as the other tips and use them to achieve this mindset.
